Your step-by-step guide to Invisalign

It’s not hard to see why Invisalign is so popular (six million smiles and counting). It’s discreet, removable – and gets great results.

Invisalign straightens teeth using a sequence of clear aligners. You’ll need to wear each set of aligners for one to two weeks, for at least 22 hours a day.

Every step of your treatment will be carefully planned with Invisalign’s clever ClinCheck software. We’ll use digital models to custom-design a series of aligners to move your teeth little by little. From the get-go, we can show you how your smile will evolve and your projected outcome.

We’ll see you every 6–10 weeks to check your progress and provide you with your next sequence of aligners. We may need to fit small tooth-coloured Invisalign attachments to certain teeth during your treatment. Your aligners will use these as anchor points to achieve trickier movements. They’re inconspicuous and easy to remove.

When you reach the end of your treatment, you'll get those all-important retainers to keep your smile looking amazing. You’ll need to wear them indefinitely to prevent your teeth from moving.

Is Invisalign right for me?

If you want to be able to see exactly how your teeth will look after treatment (and how they will move into place), then Invisalign is right up your street.

We have an Invisalign treatment for everyone:

• Invisalign Express is perfect for simple cases like minor crowding or spacing. It’s also a good option if your teeth have shifted after braces (which can easily happen if you don’t wear your retainers).
• If your case is slightly more involved, Invisalign Lite might be a better match. It’s essentially the same as Invisalign Express, but you’ll be given additional aligners and your treatment will take a bit longer.
• More complex cases, such severe crowding and bite problems, are treated under the Invisalign Comprehensive package. The system is designed to be flexible to your needs, so whatever your smile goals your Smile Clinic orthodontist will be able to tailor a plan to give you precise results.
• Invisalign is also designed to be easy for teen patients to use, with a few special features for added precision and comfort. There’s also Invisalign First to meet the needs of our youngest patients.
