Ahmed is a Consultant Orthodontist and Senior Lecturer at The Royal London Queen Mary University of London.

He graduated from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1999, and later qualified as an orthodontist in 2013 following extensive specialist training at the University of Glasgow, where he also served as a Clinical Lecturer in Orthodontics. He was awarded a PhD based on a clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of different orthodontic treatments. Ahmed subsequently moved to University of Manchester, where he led the Orthodontic Department until 2024. He currently serves as Programme Director for the Doctorate in Clinical Orthodontics at The Royal London Queen Mary University of London.

Ahmed has a particular interest in evidence-based orthodontics, providing treatment for both adults and children using fixed appliances (metal and ceramic braces) and Invisalign. He is highly experienced in managing complex cases within a multidisciplinary setting and is known for his strong clinical judgement and patient-centred approach, with a focus on achieving optimal patient satisfaction.

He is an examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well national and international universities. He also lectures internationally as an honorary professor in orthodontics. His research focuses on improving the effectiveness of orthodontic treatments, and he has published widely in high-impact scientific journals, as well as presenting his work at international conferences.
